A popular illustration to describe optimism and pessimism is a glass of water at the halfway, the optimist is said to see the water as half full the pessimist sees it as empty.
Optimist are set of people that expects all the best things to happen no matter the circumstance. They believe they can control how they respond to any situation; they see every obstacle as a challenge to overcome. They believe they have a choice, which is to act and think positively. This set of people got their attitude under control; they believe in rising up even when they fall. They focus on the solution rather than the problem. They are undaunted in nature and never give up easily. They make sure there are not affected negatively with the circumstances that surrounds them. They believe in faith not fate.
Pessimists are just direct opposite the optimists. They are being controlled by
their attitude. When bad things happen to them they see it as normal and believes it happens to everyone. They allow fear take the better side of them. They focus on the problem rather than the solution.
According to Keith Harrell, they exaggerate the size of a problem and put down their ability to respond, they say “this is the absolute worst thing that has ever happened to me, I’ll never have the resources to deal with it”. They don’t believe in their self, they believe in fate not faith.
Where do you belong?
How do you respond to circumstances around you?
